Jason Rudolph’s 55,374 steps for Mental Health Association of RI
Jason grew up in East Providence and was raised by his grandparents. Growing up he suffered from mental health issues and struggled with drugs and alcohol. On his journey to becoming sober he wanted to become an amateur boxer. His friend told him he would have to run, but Jason hated running. He worked out and lifted weights and found that helped him stay sober. But, after an injury he started to look into running and saw a lot of physical and health benefits to running.
Jason is running the marathon for Mental Health Association of RI to help others that may be struggling like he once was. He knows recovery happens one step at a time and each of the 55,549 steps it takes to complete a marathon is a step towards recovery for him and others he is able to touch with his story. He wants others to know that no matter where you have been, no matter how down and out you are, you can always change. It’s hard but it’s possible and organizations like MHARI are here to help.
